goodbye world
A downloadable soundtrack
Soundtrack was made for OST Composing Jam #7 by Lone Rabbit
goodbye world is an electronic soundtrack made with FL Studio. There are three tracks with a runtime of 5-6 minutes.
goodbye world was inspired by the soundtracks of Undertale, Omori, and Octopath Traveler. It all started with the melodies for each song and the idea of complementing orchestral sounds with synths. As well as the concept of being underwater and the deeper you go, the less you hear of "real" sounds.
I chose to both text and picture themes. I took the feeling of melancholy from "Inside My World" and the underwater aesthetic of the picture.
--goodbye world's concept--
The game goodbye world is similar in feeling of atmospheric games like Gris and rpgs like Undertale and Omori. It would be a 2d adventure platformer in the depths of the ocean with beautiful and haunting set pieces along the way. This intertwines with the main character's ordinary life above sea.
The story is about a nameless teen who lives his life near the sea. He lives his life aimlessly and continues to follow the road set before him. One day by the beach, he finds washed-up lyre. It begins to change him as his dreams are filled on the endless depths of the ocean. He witnesses a world beyond his own filled with strange folk, creatures, and places. The teen is challenged to somehow balance the onslaught of dreams and the normalcy of everyday life. This in turn brings him closer to the people around him.
goodbye world's story is about how someone accepts the joys or sorrows of life with the help of others so that they may live.
--goodbye world's tracks--
1. before the living
The introduction to goodbye world where you are under a starry night then you are taken to another world. Its about the initial whimsy of it all with a hint of uncertainty. Then you realize how fantastical it all is, only for loneliness to creep in. As you are the only one who knows of this world.
2. brave the dark
The main character has woken up in a cave filled with mysterious beasts who occupy its walls and pits. He must evade them and make an escape. During his escape, he encounters mystery after mystery. There is no explanation only creeping dread.
3. what was lost
This track is typically played every time with when the main character is recollecting, reminiscing, or grieving. It ends with a hopeful tone which makes the next time lighter than before. As you as you remember what was lost, you can move forward.

Thank you for checking this out! I've recently got into composing and truly found a passion for it. So, I want to keep making things and getting better. Assuming you are also from the OST Jam and have finished, congrats! I'm glad we were able to get something out there and I sincerely wish you all the best.
